A lunch buffet (salad and pasta) will be prepared especially for Seneca Lake Academy participants by MuraBella’s for anyone who would like to partake of it (($10/person plus tax and tip – children under 13 half price). Sign up at registration. This will immediately follow the Geology talk at the same location.
After lunch (between 1:15 and 2:15) anyone choosing to do so has the opportunity to spend some time in the heated cabin of the Seneca Legacy at its dock courtesy of Captain Bill’s Seneca Lake Cruises. A great opportunity to possibly see some winter water fowl, feel the movement of the lake and experience its mood of the day. We will have paper and pencils there for anyone wanting to jot down some thoughts or sketch a picture.

Children's Programming by Earth Arts Ithaca
Please send children with a healthy snack, water bottle, outdoor clothing, and a change of clothes.
Our Base Camp, located at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Parish House (108 S. Genesee St.) will have thematic sessions for children, along with a Book Nook (a cozy tent with picture books and blankets!) and a Craft Table set up throughout each session. This should accommodate a variety of energy levels and age levels throughout the day.
There will be Check-In Times throughout the day, where we ask that parents/caregivers come over to check in with their child and the Children's Program staff.
Check In Times are: 10:15, 11:30, 3:00 and 4:00
Children's registration/drop off begins

Session 1: We Thank the Birds!
8:45 – 10:15 am
We will celebrate and learn about our local birds through games, songs and stories. We'll go look for birds and bird habitat outside by the Falls.
Session 2: We Thank the Trees and Plants!
10:30 – 11:30 am
We will celebrate and learn about our local Trees and Plants through games, songs and stories. We'll go outside to gather materials to come back and make crafts using gifts from the Earth.
Session 3: We Thanks the Humans!
11:45 am – 12:30 pm
We will celebrate and learn about the early humans on this land through games, songs and stories. Using clay we will build a collaborative sculpture of a village of people living together and sharing resources.

For the first part of this session, Jim Murphy, science teacher at Watkins Glen Middle School, will be with us to help us get acquainted with bugs and other life forms that live in our local streams. He will be bringing photos and water samples to examine under microscopes. The second part of this session we will play some games outside and visit the frozen waterfalls, as well as have quiet craft time and story time at the Base Camp.
Session 5: We Thank the Animals!
4:15 - 5:00 pm
We will celebrate and learn about our local Animals through games, songs and stories.
All children must be picked up by parents/caregivers by 5pm.
